Thai Airways TG 677 NRT – BKK

Let’s take a look at the famous Thai Airways flight TG 677 from Tokyo to Bangkok. This flight is special in that the first class cabins have something most other flights do not: you can close your cabin. Yes, there are doors you can shut to get some extra privacy. The cabins themselves are spacious, with plenty of storage options.  The build quality of the seat, doors, and storage cabins leaves a little to be desired if you’re the nit-picky kind. Clearly the plane has been around a few years and the age is starting to show.

Still, the sheer beauty of the colors and design is a nice feature. So is the ample storage (side storage, plus storage for your coat next to the door), and the big flat screen TV.

As with most first class flights, you’re treated to an extra blanket (and Thai Airways has very high quality nice blankets in beautiful Thai purple. Very comfy!), slippers and a goodie bag. The  high quality bag is made by Tumi and inside you will find some cologne, body lotion, breath spray (!), a comb, and a few other grooming essentials. Laugh all you want but I absolutely love that stuff. I never take tooth brushes or combs with me when I’m taking a first class trip. No need!

Thai Airways service is legendary, and rightfully so. Flight attendants will smile and do whatever it takes to make your flight as pleasurable as possible. All of them speak excellent English. And if you need some extra piece and quiet – close the door! This little feature really does make a difference. No more looking at the other guy next to you, no more watching the frantic super service oriented flight attendants run around. Just close your door, extend the seat into a bed (wonderful comfy pillows on TG 677 by the way!), call up one of the latest blockbusters on your big screen TV and relax. The plane engines did seem a little louder than on some of the newer planes, but not a deal breaker. The flight from Tokyo to Bangkok on TG 677 took about 6 hours. In those 6 hours you’ll eat first quality dinner, watch a few movies, and sleep a few hours. And if you need something, the excellent Thai Airways girls and guys are always there to assist. I liked this flight and highly recommend it.
